Book Review: Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Goodreads Synopsis:

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland and a favorite of the unmarried King, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, she wants to open a shop and create delectable pastries. But for her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for a woman who could be a queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the King’s marriage proposal, she meets handsome and mysterious Jest. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into a secret courtship.

Cath is determined to choose her own destiny. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

My Review:

This story was amazing.  I can actually see why the Queen of Hearts is the way she is in Alice and Wonderland and I can see why Mr. Rabbit is always saying he’s late.  Marissa Meyer is an amazing writer and she held my attention all the way through the Lunar Chronicles and she held my attention with Heartless.  I really want to read her graphic novel Wires and Nerve and my hopes are that it will be nothing but amazing like all her other books.  Meyer is on my favorite author’s list along with Rick Riordan and Sarah J. Maas.  Each one of those authors has blown my mind many times.  Meyer lived up to my hopes and even more with this recent book.  She blew my mind with Winter and she blew my mind with this one too.  I really hope that Wires and Nerve live up to my expectations after reading all of the Lunar Chronicles and reading Heartless.  The characters in Heartless were amazing; you can identify and match up each one with its Alice in Wonderland counterpart.  The storyline again was amazing and I honestly can’t wait to see what comes out of Marissa Meyer’s brain next.
